ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization. It is based in Geneva, Switzerland and was formed in the year 1947. The organization consists of representatives from ninety-one countries. Each country is represented by its 'standards' body. Certification audits are conducted by agencies accredited by ISO through selected national boards.

ISO 9000 Standards


ISO 9000 is a series of standards for Quality Management. ISO 9001 Standards are process standards. The Standards are revised every six to seven years; the current version was incorporated in the year 2000, and hence the current version is called the ISO 9000:2000 standards.

ISO 9001:2000 Standards are applicable to the following: -

  • Organizations seeking quality improvement through implementation of a quality management system.
  • Organizations seeking confidence from their suppliers that their product requirement shall be satisfied.
  • Users of the product.
  • Other organizations having specific requirements.


Who Can Apply for ISO 9001:2000 Certification

All manufacturing and service organizations, such as show-rooms banks, software development firms, financial institutions, hospitals, estate agencies, builders, (viz. jewelers) etc. can aspire for ISO 9001:2000 Certification.

Certification Process: Manufacturing or services organizations going for ISO 9001 certification would need to prepare under guidance of our consultants. Preparatory period generally ranges between five months to one year, after which the selected certification authority would conduct certification audit.

The Certifying agency conducts surveillance audits periodically for continual improvement in the organization's Quality Management System.

Govt Support: In form of Reimbursement of Part-Costs
For "Small Scale Industries" (SSI)

The Government extends support to registered SSI Units by Reimbursing Part-Cost incurred (consultancy as well as certification costs) towards obtaining ISO Certification. Reimbursement is channelised through SSI Directorate at New Delhi. This reimbursement is applicable to units holding a current and valid SSI Registration.

Registered SSI units are eligible for Part-Reimbursement of costs as per Government rules. Clients are required to apply and process papers for reimbursement. We may provide guidance and assistance on request. Details shall be discussed on individual basis.
